Where Has Winter Gone ?

[Mid February 2007]

Front garden lawns are adorned
With pansies and primroses
And scattered crops of snowdrops

There is blossom on the cherry trees
Pink and pretty for the eye to please
Plenty of trees still have their leaves

Bright yellow daffodils frill
The roadside edges that they fill
And proudly overcrowd and overspill
Over and along the canal side hill

None are afraid of a winter chill
The snow putting in a final show
Or the threat a potential frost poses

How are the flowers to know
That March will bring with it hail
Gale-force winds and showers of snow ?

This year winter still had it s tale to tell
But with global warming all is not well
For it is now nature versus a man-made spell
